The Curious Question Of What's Out There ~ Selenite

As I walk this career path called Hypnotherapy my eyes have been opened up to so many things that I'd like to share with you. While Modern Medicine is our Western Culture's gold standard there exist modalities that defy explanation yet are very effective.

I just got back from vacation...a vacation with a mishap that left me with bruises, bumps, screaming muscle spasms. It was also a vacation that gave me the opportunity to do a lot of collecting of pretty, sparkling crystals. You see, I've always been fascinated by how I feel when I wear different pieces of jewelry...diamonds, amethysts, turquoise...it's not just about feeling pretty, but the overall state of wellness I feel when having these little pieces of Mother Nature adorning my body. Well, you know what? There's a science behind it. Turns out that different types of crystal emit energy waves and that's the real feel good behind wearing sparkly things.

So, here we are on vacation and on the way home stop in Sedona for lunch and I am in such discomfort that not even the prescribed Vicodin is cutting the pain. We see a little crystal store and go in; almost immediately I begin to relax amidst the sparkle in the room. The saleswoman, noticing my pain asks me if I have ever experienced crystal singing bowls, which are thereaputic bowls which, when rubbed on the rim produce a tone...the tones are linked to the type of crystal embedded in the bowl.

The first bowl she rubs emits a beautiful tone not unlike a church bell and I almost drop to my knees when the vibration hits me, feeling like someone is "giving me a noogie (remember those?)" in my shoulder. She immediately moves to a different bowl and the sound produced gives me relief in a matter of seconds.

Sometimes there are things out there that rival the best drugs ;-)

I am in the process of educating myself on the benefits of different crystals and would like to share this with you. Today is Selenite.

Selenite is a part of the gypsum family and gets it's name from the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene. Holding a piece of Selenite can help you to feel calm and centered and keeping a piece in the room you spend time in the most can help ensure a peaceful atmosphere. It can be used as an aid in hypnosis, helping one to access their personal power and can even help enhance concentration and clarity of mind. This is one very powerful crystal.

I brought a piece home from a Rock Shop in Moab Utah. I love how it sparkles in the sun, don't you?

A Client's First Response ~ WOW!

Every once in a while I have a client who is so happy at the end of their first session that they can't wait to tell the world and I am so tickled that I couldn't wait to share what I found on Soul's Whisper's FaceBook Page.

Holly Jo came to me to help her stop smoking. Because she is out of state we chose to use Skype for our sessions. This is what she had to say after her first one:

"Had my first Hypnosis session today with Marcia. I am doing this for smoking cessation. If you have not had a session with her, I strongly suggest it. She has a very soothing voice and it was very easy to relax. Considering I am a person who has never been Hypnotized before, I was afraid it wouldn't work on me. I will definitely keep everyone updated how this works! Again.....if you do not have a session scheduled with her! Please do it.....it can be done through Skype also, if you are do not live close to her!"

and then...

"And....want to give you an update! When I do my chores....which takes me anywhere from 2 1/2-3hrs....I usually smoke 2-3 cigarettes....and I didn't have 1...left them inside and it felt great! Thanks.....can't wait until the next session!!!!" ~ Holly Jo Armstrong

As the days go by Holly Jo should find it easier not to smoke and I can't wait to hear the next update from her.

Would you like to stop smoking? Let's talk. 15 minute phone consultations are always complementary and we can tell during that phone call how hypnosis can help you kick the habit. Let me know when you would like to kick the habit.

Are you Stuck?

We all have times in our lives when we just plain feel stuck. The challenges of owning our own businesses, working for someone else in a job that is no longer challenging, even feeling no forward movement in a relationship can have us feeling like the walls are closing in on us.

The remarkable thing about Hypnosis is that it effectively aids in seeing past the blocks,  inviting clarity in these kinds of situations; allowing us to see paths and solutions that were hidden from our view.

In my 'Getting Unstuck' session, I help you to find yourself forward in time, imagining what life looks like on the other side of the challenges you currently face, noticing  the solutions that brought you to this new place and helping you to take action for a new and wonderful you.

Getting Unstuck can mean the difference between lackluster living and finding brilliance in your life. I invite you to call and see how this session can be right for you.

Fulfillment Friday ~ Vision Board Class!

Last week I gave away John Assarof's Complete Vision Board Kit through my FaceBook page and since then I have had a number of people ask me how to create their own Vision Board. I enjoy doing my board to reflect dreams and goals for the coming year so the Fall is a great time to start preparing for this project. You'll want to focus and get very clear about what you would like to manifest. Then it's time to create your board.

This is the Vision Board that I mentioned in the last post. In the time since making this board I went camping numerous times, a trip to Colorado, got the camera bag, added horses to my life, started a new business and made space in my heart for a new puppy who will be coming to us in the New Year. So really the only thing that has not yet come to pass is getting my motorcycle license. I really credit doing this each year with achieving my goals and adding brilliance to my life.

Vision Boards are fun, easy to make and a cool group activity so I've decided to offer a couple of classes just in time for the New Year. I hope you can join me to create a piece of art that will help you capture your dreams.

Vision Board Creation Class

It's Another Fulfillment Friday! The Vision Board And Drawing Announcment

NNoteI love to help people hone down their focus to the point of being able to achieve the things they desire and there are a number of ways to do it. One of my favorite tools is the vision board.  Creating a vision board assists you in getting your desires by allowing you to keep them uppermost in your mind. In it's most basic sense, by hanging it where you are going to look repeatedly (like by your desk) you are constantly aware of your goals and tuned in to the opportunities to achieve your desires as they come along. But there is something more than that...there is a synergy that happens when you are constantly aware of something. Every thought has a frequency. Thoughts send out a magnetic energy that seems to bring that which we think about, feel about, closer.

Example: I wanted a particular camera bag and put the exact bag on my board. Months later, I went to a trade show that I had not planned on going to that year. The company that made the bag was there and selling that bag not only at a reduced rate but with bonus additional covers and I had just booked a large job. I own that bag now.

Sometimes you get a surprise with your board choices. Same board, different goal. I wanted to make sure I went camping A LOT more that year and picked a beautiful photo of a tent that looked just like mine near a lake with a mountain in the background (specifically The Rockies). This was a year where we had decided to spend our vacation budget on a lot of local trips and we did go camping alot...but imagine my surprise when the opportunity came up to visit a dear friend in Telluride, Colorado, spending a week horseback riding surrounded by the grandeur of, you guessed it, The Rocky Mountains!

I love Vision Boards and make at least one every year, changing or even re-doing it as my desires change. I consider it one of my most important manifesting tools and hope you will, too.

Hypnosis And Pain Control or Why You Never Argue With A Horse.

When a horse decides not to move brute force rarely wins...a hard lesson learned when I sprained my back a couple of weeks ago. Throwing my shoulder into 1200 lbs. of "Yes, that IS MY HOOF on top of your foot" did nothing to move the horse and bought me a world of pain. Tough lessons, painful lessons and one that has helped me gain more experience in using hypnotic techniques to lessen my own pain, whether a client's or my own. I have to say that for myself, I find it much harder to guide myself into hypnosis than have someone do it for me, so don't be discouraged if you find it challenging at first. Like anything it takes practice, practice and more practice. I'd like to share today a method for using hypno for pain control, but first the usual disclaimer...I am not a Doctor nor do I play one on TV. This entry is for educational and entertainment use only ;-), and you should always see your Doctor to determine the severity of your condition and not just jump into this type of hypnosis. With that said, Here is what I do for pain release and what I have done for my clients. It's a process called Color Therapy. After centering and relaxing myself I visualize the area of my pain with a color that for represents the pain which for me is bright, glowing, vibrating red. I take deep cleansing breaths and then start imagining that the air that I am breathing in is of a healing color, which to me is a green or blue. Each inhalation of air I direct toward the source of the pain and imagine I am blowing that color onto that glowing red center in the pain. With each breath that I blow on it I imagine the red getting dull, fading to pink, fading to white becoming normal. With each exhalation I see the red leaving my body through my breath, blowing out clouds of ever lightening red/pink air knowing I have replaced the color and pain with cooling green/blue healing air and color. I'm glad to share this method with you and hope that you got two things from this message today...how to lessen your pain with the use of color therapy and never to tackle a brick wall, err, horse.

So, I've got This Cool Self Hypnosis Mp3...

Many people are recognizing the power of the mind to help achieve their goals and self hypnosis products are more accessible than ever, so it's tempting to think that a $20 disc is all that is needed to lose that extra 15 lbs. or stop smoking. Often these can help, but there are multiple reasons that a certified hypnotherapist can be more benefit.

The biggest reason is the flexibility that is offered when working with your trained professional. An Mp3, while convenient, may not be in a style that resonates with you. By working 'live', your hypnotherapist can switch gears, changing the wording, tone of voice and tempo to more easily make sense to your subconscious mind.  As an example, perhaps your mp3 contains visualization that has you walking on the beach when you really don't like the ocean...through consultation your therapist can change that visualization to the place you most love, maybe a winding forest path to a cabin in the woods.

Your hypnotherapist might employ a style that includes dialogue, having a conversation with you while you are in trance. This can be much more effective than simply listening to a directed stream of words.

When you work in a 'live' session, you are able to relax into a much deeper state than using a recording. Because you go deeper, you may find that you have much faster results. Some people find the results they are looking for in as little as one session, while it can sometimes take weeks to receive the same level of satisfaction from a recording.

Hypnosis, whether accessed through recordings or through the services of a trained professional is mind expansive and effective to break past bad habits while supporting new, more positive changes. It allows a degree of relaxation unparalleled while helping you to create brilliance in your life.

It's Fulfillment Friday!

According to Lynne McTaggart, author of The Field and The Intention Experiment, when we as a group of people set an intention and meditate on it we can change the physical world. Click here to read an interview with her that gives examples of the force and difference we can make by working together to help each other with manifest our intentions.

To help my readers with this I have created space on my FaceBook page. Each Friday, I will open a status for all of you to comment on. Write down something you are manifesting in your life and/or take a few moments to send intentional thought to those that create their wishes there. I am in awe of what we can do when we work together. Let's help each other reach our goals by giving thought to those who write in.

As I write this, today is Fulfillment Friday! Make a wish, set an intention. Use the power of like minded people to give your manifesting a power burst. When more than one person gives attention to an intention then the energy is multiplied exponentially. Leave your intention in the comments section on our Facebook page where this blog post is pinned ;-)

There's An App For That!

Our human brain is similar to a computer in that it stores information, analyzes the information and creates answers for the questions asked. But our brains are also like smart phones and tablets ... all three are enhanced by the use of "Apps". And just like the apps you can purchase at the i-Tunes or Android store, there are apps you can use with your brain. From weight management to improving your golf or tennis game to conquering the fear of flying, customized hypnosis sessions are your tools to make the changes that can add brilliance to your life.

Let's look some of the different Apps there might be for your brain:
  • Weight Management
  • Pain Control
  • Sports Performance
  • Quit Smoking
  • Stress Relief
  • Better Memory
  • More Confidence
  • Fear of Flying
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety
  • Motivation
  • Procrastination
How many other ways do you think hypnosis can help you? Whatever you can think of, I bet there's an App for you.

Want to chat about how you can benefit from Hypnosis? 15 minute phone conversations are always complementary and it's a great way to determine if the therapist you are speaking with is a good match for you and how you might benefit from customized hypnotherapy sessions. I'd love to visit with you and would be happy to explore the options with you.

Bug Bites and Their Relation To Hypnotherapy

I just got back from an amazing vacation. One of the best and worst experiences this week was doing that which I love the most, horseback riding.

I was at Jekyll Island in Georgia. A beautiful, hot and humid day, a spirited horse and a trail that led through a palmetto forest to a white sandy beach. I saturated my exposed skin with Mosquito Coast sunscreen and left on an idyllic ride. Rebel and I trotted along the beach waving to kids in the water and having a good ol' time with a few other riders.

Or so I thought. An hour later my legs were on fire. I was full protected by the insect repellent in the sunscreen where I had sprayed it...but my legs under my pants were fair game and soon after the ride I was in agony. The only solution was to peel off my pants and cover myself in anti-itch cream every few hours. The cream helped enormously, but it was the peeling of layers and self help that sped the process of healing.

Hypnotherapy is similar to first aid of this kind. Just like the red bumps forming under my clothes, the trials of life often lay wounds under our skin where we least expect them, showing up later as blocks and anxiety. Hypnotherapy peels back the layers of our conscious mind, revealing that which keeps us from experiencing the brilliance of life. Once the subconscious is exposed, positive suggestion is the salve that heals those hidden scars, allowing us the freedom to experience fully the things we love most.

Have questions about how hypnosis can add brilliance to your life? I'd love to talk with you about it. 15 minute phone consultations are always free and can help you determine if hypnosis is right for you.

Why I Offer 'Music Monday' On My Facebook Page

Someone asked me recently why I offer 'Music Monday' on my Facebook Page. Well, here's my reasoning. Hypnotherapy is unfamiliar territory for most people. It's actually very scary to a lot of people. They think it's (background soundtrack: ooooooohhhhhhh) mind control. So what does that have to do with music and singing? Music is common ground. It makes people feel comfortable and promotes having fun. Singing raises the endorphin levels which also makes people feel good. When we are comfortable and feel good, we are more likely to be open and take a little risk. Offering 'Music Monday' affords the readers of my page the opportunity to get to know me and what I do on neutral ground, sharing music and maybe scrolling through my page for articles that describe the benefits of hypnotherapy. It gives them a reason to come back, wondering what I might post from week to week, an excuse to listen (and sing to) music that they enjoy.

People do business with the people they enjoy and feel comfortable with. I want each and every person who considers my services to feel like my home is their home...and on Facebook it is. I hope you will come by Soul's Whisper Hypnotherapy on Facebook, pull up a bean bag and hang out a while...maybe we'll have a pot luck. On Monday's there's music and there are some good posts on hypnosis and general wellness. You're always welcome, and if you want to know more, 15 minute phone consultations are always free ;-)

Self Hypnosis and My Personal Fear

All my life my mother would tell everyone about how she almost drowned in the ocean and from the time I was very little I heard the story over and over (and over). Although we lived in a beach town my father had a fear of the water since JAWS came out, telling us time and time again that sharks could attack in a foot of water...and I loved to swim.

Fast forward to my teenage years and I was one of those girls surrounded by boys, you know, the kind that was one of the guys and always being dared to push the edge a bit farther. One summer day we got hold of an inflatable raft and decided to paddle to the oil platform out in the channel. We barely made it past the breakers when we overturned the raft and I got caught in an undertow. Keeping my wits about me I was able to swim across and out and ended up on a beach hike wet and scared to find my friends.

Another time, another boat, another bad experience and it became a downward spiral of bad boating nightmares until I found myself miserably on the other side of fear. I kept trying and failing at keeping calm in on board situations and by the time I met my husband was fairly assured that I was nautically cursed.

But here's the thing. J. loves boating, he loves scuba diving and now kayaks and I love him. So when we decided to get him one he started pushing and prodding to get me to go and I was terrified. I couldn't do it. I couldn't even get on it banked on the shore. After consulting with a Hypnotherapist I decided that I could, with help, get over this, but even after that decision my fear made me procrastinate until this year when the opportunity came along to train as one. Learning self hypnosis was the turning point for me to work with this fear instead of running from it. With the tools I have learned I am now still water paddling and have explored most of Fireman's Cove by myself. I'm looking forward (trepidatiously) to a scheduled trip to paddle the backwater swamp of Coastal Georgia and am saving my pennies for my very own sleek boat. I could not do this without the skills I have learned as a hypnotherapist.

Fear is a programmed tool we have that when reasonable assists us in our personal safety. Allowed to grow out of bounds into a phobia it affects our lives, making our experiences dull and unfulfilling.  Facing my fear and dealing with it has opened a new door for me with the brilliance of the sun shining on the early morning waters. Using hypnosis to conquer your fears can do the same for you.

15 minute phone consultations are always free. Call to see how hypnotherapy can add brilliance to your life.

Shedding Pounds Through Hypnotherapy.

I wanted to share a little bit of the experience my clients have had using hypnotherapy to jumpstart shedding pounds. It's something so many of us have struggled with and seeing people succeed through the use of this process is so fun and rewarding.

One of the  keys to working efficiently with hypnosis is identifying what triggers unhealthy eating habits and addressing those keys to modify them.

My very first client was my girlfriend, Jen. When I started training she was insanely interested in the idea of trying it and offered to be my "guinea pig", for which I was eternally grateful. We talked about how she might better manage her weight and what came up was that she celebrates with food. Now, I'm not talking the occasional piece of BDay cake but swinging through Starbucks for a Venti 'let's get everything that tastes good in the cup' kind of drink every time something good happened for her. She was going through a period where a lot of wonderful was happening so Starbucks was seeing a lot of her ;-)

I customized a session for her where she was not only given suggestions to celebrate in other ways but also that juicy fruits and savory vegetables were so very satisfying and that they filled her with limitless energy.

A week later, Jen came back for her second session jubilant that she had shed 2 lbs. "without doing anything!".  In actuality she had made some changes in eating habits that she had not quite as yet acknowledged. After a couple more sessions and a few more pounds she was inspired to start a low carb diet and more activity, and the last time I heard, she had lost 19 lbs. and excited that people were really noticing the changes in her.

If you have not had success in your weight loss efforts, hypnosis can be the missing link to changing habits for a lifetime. 15 minute phone consultations are always free and right now I'm offering a summer special to jumpstart your swimsuit season. It only takes a few minutes to see if this is right for you so call me, 480.366.4476
