Why I Offer 'Music Monday' On My Facebook Page

Someone asked me recently why I offer 'Music Monday' on my Facebook Page. Well, here's my reasoning. Hypnotherapy is unfamiliar territory for most people. It's actually very scary to a lot of people. They think it's (background soundtrack: ooooooohhhhhhh) mind control. So what does that have to do with music and singing? Music is common ground. It makes people feel comfortable and promotes having fun. Singing raises the endorphin levels which also makes people feel good. When we are comfortable and feel good, we are more likely to be open and take a little risk. Offering 'Music Monday' affords the readers of my page the opportunity to get to know me and what I do on neutral ground, sharing music and maybe scrolling through my page for articles that describe the benefits of hypnotherapy. It gives them a reason to come back, wondering what I might post from week to week, an excuse to listen (and sing to) music that they enjoy.

People do business with the people they enjoy and feel comfortable with. I want each and every person who considers my services to feel like my home is their home...and on Facebook it is. I hope you will come by Soul's Whisper Hypnotherapy on Facebook, pull up a bean bag and hang out a while...maybe we'll have a pot luck. On Monday's there's music and there are some good posts on hypnosis and general wellness. You're always welcome, and if you want to know more, 15 minute phone consultations are always free ;-)

Self Hypnosis and My Personal Fear

All my life my mother would tell everyone about how she almost drowned in the ocean and from the time I was very little I heard the story over and over (and over). Although we lived in a beach town my father had a fear of the water since JAWS came out, telling us time and time again that sharks could attack in a foot of water...and I loved to swim.

Fast forward to my teenage years and I was one of those girls surrounded by boys, you know, the kind that was one of the guys and always being dared to push the edge a bit farther. One summer day we got hold of an inflatable raft and decided to paddle to the oil platform out in the channel. We barely made it past the breakers when we overturned the raft and I got caught in an undertow. Keeping my wits about me I was able to swim across and out and ended up on a beach hike wet and scared to find my friends.

Another time, another boat, another bad experience and it became a downward spiral of bad boating nightmares until I found myself miserably on the other side of fear. I kept trying and failing at keeping calm in on board situations and by the time I met my husband was fairly assured that I was nautically cursed.

But here's the thing. J. loves boating, he loves scuba diving and now kayaks and I love him. So when we decided to get him one he started pushing and prodding to get me to go and I was terrified. I couldn't do it. I couldn't even get on it banked on the shore. After consulting with a Hypnotherapist I decided that I could, with help, get over this, but even after that decision my fear made me procrastinate until this year when the opportunity came along to train as one. Learning self hypnosis was the turning point for me to work with this fear instead of running from it. With the tools I have learned I am now still water paddling and have explored most of Fireman's Cove by myself. I'm looking forward (trepidatiously) to a scheduled trip to paddle the backwater swamp of Coastal Georgia and am saving my pennies for my very own sleek boat. I could not do this without the skills I have learned as a hypnotherapist.

Fear is a programmed tool we have that when reasonable assists us in our personal safety. Allowed to grow out of bounds into a phobia it affects our lives, making our experiences dull and unfulfilling.  Facing my fear and dealing with it has opened a new door for me with the brilliance of the sun shining on the early morning waters. Using hypnosis to conquer your fears can do the same for you.

15 minute phone consultations are always free. Call to see how hypnotherapy can add brilliance to your life.

Shedding Pounds Through Hypnotherapy.

I wanted to share a little bit of the experience my clients have had using hypnotherapy to jumpstart shedding pounds. It's something so many of us have struggled with and seeing people succeed through the use of this process is so fun and rewarding.

One of the  keys to working efficiently with hypnosis is identifying what triggers unhealthy eating habits and addressing those keys to modify them.

My very first client was my girlfriend, Jen. When I started training she was insanely interested in the idea of trying it and offered to be my "guinea pig", for which I was eternally grateful. We talked about how she might better manage her weight and what came up was that she celebrates with food. Now, I'm not talking the occasional piece of BDay cake but swinging through Starbucks for a Venti 'let's get everything that tastes good in the cup' kind of drink every time something good happened for her. She was going through a period where a lot of wonderful was happening so Starbucks was seeing a lot of her ;-)

I customized a session for her where she was not only given suggestions to celebrate in other ways but also that juicy fruits and savory vegetables were so very satisfying and that they filled her with limitless energy.

A week later, Jen came back for her second session jubilant that she had shed 2 lbs. "without doing anything!".  In actuality she had made some changes in eating habits that she had not quite as yet acknowledged. After a couple more sessions and a few more pounds she was inspired to start a low carb diet and more activity, and the last time I heard, she had lost 19 lbs. and excited that people were really noticing the changes in her.

If you have not had success in your weight loss efforts, hypnosis can be the missing link to changing habits for a lifetime. 15 minute phone consultations are always free and right now I'm offering a summer special to jumpstart your swimsuit season. It only takes a few minutes to see if this is right for you so call me, 480.366.4476
